These are a few of My Favorite Things!
Some link love - from Hogwarts to heart-knowing favorites
Well here we are again, dear readers, on the 5th Thursday in May! How is it the end of May already? My kids have been splashing in the kiddie pool for over a month already—so we’re gearing up for the hot, Georgia summer!
For those of you new here, first—welcome. Second, this is a fun tradition I’ve somehow gotten into the rhythm of and to be honest, I’m loving it. Every month that we have a 5th Thursday you will receive a simple email with things that I love and want to share with you.
I’ve really enjoyed sitting and pondering what is bringing me life recently. I look forward to sharing a few of my favorite things with you below because I also look forward to seeing recommendations from others. I’ve discovered some of my most favorite books, wall art, essays and other things from authors also sharing what they love.1 It’s cyclical and I hope you are surprised by God here today!
So here I am, encouraging you to share what gives you life.
Share what makes you smile.
Share what brings you to tears.
Share what draws you closer to Jesus.
I’m grateful you’re here.
Raindrops on roses…
I've had to read Presence and Encounter by David Benner very slowly. It is so rich and full of incredible gifts, that I’m intentionally taking my time to ponder and soak in each word.
I’m a fan of candles and how they draw me into the presence of God. I love gazing into the flickering flame, while smelling the scents—feeling embraced by God. However, I am a HUGE fan of these beautiful battery candles and their holders that we purchased several months ago. At times, my husband says our mantle feels like Hogwarts, so I’ll take that as a compliment to how realistic they look!
We homeschool and I’m really diving into making our curriculum a little more suited for our family’s needs and grade levels next school year. I’ve enjoyed working through this book that goes deeper into on the way children learn by just living life!
I’ve been getting my news from The Pour Over for a while now and love the way they incorporate scripture into their short, bipartisan updates.
My husband and I have been in a big season of discernment and God’s Voice Within is one I have returned to again and again in seasons of decision making. There’s always something to learn on this discerning journey of life, and every time I open this book, I learn something new.
I’ve been reading
’s new book, All the Things I Say to God to my kids and it has quickly become a favorite! I love hearing my girls ask, “Mom, can we read about Abby tonight?” If you desire a book to draw your kids (and yourself) into the beauty of prayer—here it is!I recently loved
’s thoughts on spring cleaning for your soul!I loved these words on centering from
! May we all be invited to live from the center of who we are in Him.- shared such beautiful words on living a screen-free life!
This shirt has been a favorite of mine to wear this spring! I feel like a walking bouquet of flowers!
If you’ve also missed any recent essays of mine—here’s a few!
May you remember today that you are seen and loved.
May you receive today that you’re important to this world.
May you hold today the gifts that God has given you in this beautifully broken world.
Substack always offers their writers the option to open up for paid subscriptions. I know many writers on this platform offer this to their subscribers, but for me, I hope to always keep what I offer here in this space free of charge. My husband and I serve in support-based missions work in diaspora ministry, specifically in immigrant and refugee care. If you want to support my writing—you could give a one-time or recurring donation to our ministry and that would be a huge blessing.
Remember, I don’t get paid for promoting any of these. I enjoy sharing the work of others and items that bring my life joy!
I love David Brenner! Enjoy! (And I’m so glad you enjoyed my piece on centering…it was a meaningful moment for me and I’m glad to know it held meaning for others.)
I didn’t realize you homeschooled, that is awesome! (My kids are grown but we homeschooled for 15 years!) Tanner’s book is sweet isnt it? I had the opportunity to meet him and get the book, he is THE nicest guy!
